The History of Our World
The Age of Harmony
Centuries ago, our world was one of profound unity. Humans and non-humans lived not just in proximity, but in a state of deep, harmonious intermingling that had defined existence for millennia. Relationships, trade, and daily life flowed seamlessly between all species, free from the stain of overt bias. This was an era of fair exchange where a vampire might purchase blood from a willing donor, while a human might commission a giant for tasks requiring impossible strength.
The Great Schism
Approximately three centuries ago, this peace was shattered by "The True Keepers of Humanity," an extremist group aiming to eradicate all non-humans. Through propaganda, they stoked fear and paranoia. Within two short years, their campaign of hate turned neighbor against neighbor, forcing non-humans to flee and hide, their voices silenced by the sheer numbers and advancing weaponry of humanity.
The Lost Centuries
As decades passed, the True Keepers disbanded. The purge was forgotten, and the existence of non-humans was erased from memory, relegated to folklore. Factual records were dismissed as fantasy. In the shadows, however, non-humans survived, with a brave few even managing to integrate back into society, disguising their true nature.
The Reconciliation
Over a century ago, a vampire who had lived through the old age revealed the forgotten history to the government. His testimony led to the creation of The Interspecies Preservation Clause, reintroducing non-humans to the world with full protection. A fragile peace was restored, a peace that has grown more secure with each passing year, paving the way for a new, unified future.
